Welcome to the Movement 121 blog! I’m Tony Chen – you can read more about me and our team here, but the important thing is that we want to activate a new movement. And this blog kicks it off.
Our vision is simple: to transform 1,000,000 people trapped in unfathomable poverty to become self-sustaining entrepreneurs. We believe the only way this will happen is if we really connect these potential entrepreneurs with potential world-changers (could this be you?) in a personal, on-going, authentic, and tangible relationship. One to one.
We are inspired by some of the people we’ve met in the poorest regions of the world. Though the poverty we saw was truly unfathomable for us living in our American suburbia bubble, they strangely remind us of people we know. They work hard. Their laughter is contagious. They hope for a better future for their kids. They don’t let the unfairness of life rob them of the simple joy of being together. This blog is dedicated to them.
This blog will be our space to explore the mix of topics that shape our movement – consumer compassion, microfinance, fair trade, social media, ending poverty, sustainable giving, entrepreneurship, philanthropy 2.0, crossing cultures, living a significant life, the needs of the poor, the needs of the rich, the art of entrepreneurial leadership, the power of faith, social innovation & entrepreneurship, and more. If any of this interests you, we invite you to follow us, stalk us on twitter, comment away, join in on the conversation, and join the movement.
